The entryway storage bench hides two full compartments behind sliding doors that glide open without swinging into the hallway or bumping into whoever just walked in behind you. Circular finger pulls replace hardware so the walnut grain flows uninterrupted across the facade. One section includes open shelves for the shoes you reach for daily while the rest stays tucked away behind closed doors.

The walnut is the real story here. We selected wide boards with cathedral and swirling grain patterns that read almost like topography across those sliding panels. The wood came from trees that fell naturally around Los Angeles, and every entryway bench with shoe storage will show different character because every tree grew differently. The warm tones shift from honey to chocolate depending on the board, creating visual movement that makes this wood entryway bench feel alive rather than static.

Those softly rounded end panels came from careful shaping of thick walnut, oak or urban lumber stock, wrapping the case into a continuous form that feels monolithic despite the leg lift beneath. The tapered legs are a direct midcentury reference, preventing the piece from sitting heavy on the floor while giving it that signature silhouette from the era when furniture designers actually cared about proportions.

The upholstered cushion on top turns a mudroom bench with storage into an actual seat. Sit down to lace up your boots or just drop for a moment before heading back out. The tailored pad uses a muted fabric that lets the walnut stay the visual focus while adding the comfort that bare wood benches lack.
