White glove delivery within Los Angeles Count ranges from $150 to $350 for most items under 150 pounds, based upon the distance from our workshop, the size of your piece, and the load-in scenario.

National shipping ranges from $400 to $600 for most items under 150 pounds. National shipping is partial white-glove, meaning the shipper will help arrange the furniture items into your space, but will require assistance from you or another person who is on site.

Yes, the name is exactly what you think it is. Those rounded bun feet at the bottom do the heavy lifting, both structurally and in the naming department, and we refuse to apologize for either.

This is the island that finally makes farmhouse and modern stop arguing. The silhouette pulls from old world tables and butcher counters, the kind that anchored kitchens long before anyone had a word for open concept. The execution is clean, current, and built without a single fussy detail you would have to dust around.

Start at the top. Solid wood finished with a cove edge that lifts gently at the perimeter, the sort of profile you usually only find on heirloom casegoods. It feels good under the forearm and it catches a stray bit of flour before it hits the floor. Run your hand along it and you understand immediately that this was shaped by caring artisans.

Below the surface sit drawers that push to open and soft close, gliding shut with that quiet, expensive hush. No pulls necessary, which keeps the lines unbroken and the whole thing looking deliberate. If you want hardware, say the word and we will add pulls in whatever finish suits you. This is your island. We just build it.

The lower half does real work. Slatted shelving runs the length of the base, open and airy, ready for mixing bowls, stockpots, cookbooks, baskets, and the overflow of jars every serious cook accumulates. The slats let everything breathe and let you see what you own. One side carries a divider that opens up clearance for seating, so stools tuck in cleanly and dinner happens wherever the cook happens to be standing.

Then there are the feet. Turned by hand into those plump rounded buns, they ground the whole piece with a wink. They are the difference between furniture that takes itself too seriously and furniture you actually want to live with.

Choose your wood. Solid white oak for a pale, durable backbone. Walnut for depth and drama. Ash for bright, open grain. Elm for warmth and character that shifts from board to board. Each one gets finished in natural hard wax oil, which protects the wood while letting it stay honest and touchable. No plastic shell, no glassy sheen, just the grain doing what grain does.

Everything is handcrafted to order in our Los Angeles workshop from locally sourced, sustainable lumber. Want it longer, taller, wider, or fitted to a stubborn corner of your kitchen. We adjust the dimensions to your space and your habits. Customization is not an upcharge gimmick around here. It is the entire point of buying from people instead of a warehouse.

Some islands hold the room together. This one holds it together and makes you grin every time you catch sight of its feet.

Definitely. We have a stellar network of trusted shippers who will deliver your blanket-wrapped furniture within the contiguous United States.

Hard-wax oil is our standard finish, which provides the most natural finish possible while protecting against stains or marks. You won't even need coasters! See our updated Hardwood Care Instructions for full details.

We'll show you. If there are any questions about what your particular piece will look like, we'll include a custom design rendering with your purchase to make sure we'll all on the same page with the dimensions, design and orientation of your piece.

You bet. We can use high-end tints from Rubio Monocoat to alter the natural color of the wood. We do have a charge for this process, which includes a selection of custom wood samples mailed to your home. Make a note when ordering or Ask A Question above to get a stain quote for your furniture item.

Yes indeed. For a full list of possibilities with color swatches, head to the Cardinal Powder Coating Color Chart. When you've chosen a color, enter it into the Checkout Note.

our urban hardwoods
sycamore, elm, ash & eucalyptus

These sustainable planks come from non-farmed trees that fell in our local neighborhoods. Local urban-lumber milling companies turn them into beautiful dimensional lumber, rather than allowing them to be sent to landfills. We've fostered excellent relationships with these organizations (noble, good-looking heroes whom we love dearly), so they'll call us when the newest batches are about to be dried and milled.

Our Reclaimed Wood
Old-growth Doug fir

We respect the use of all reclaimed wood, but at Parkman we only use salvaged lumber from Los Angeles County structures that were built about 100 years ago or more. This old-growth wood is derived from ancient trees that, thankfully, are no longer being deforested. We prefer this sustainable lumber due to its natural durability and beauty. Conversely, most furniture wood these days comes from farms that cut their crop young, leaving the lumber comparatively soft and bland. These farms also use massive amounts of energy and water, unnecessarily damaging the global environment.

in-house fabrication

& fair wages

We perform all of woodwork and metalwork in our Los Angeles workshop so that we can personally oversee every aspect of your build. Most shops you'll come across simply design and market products, but don't actually build any furniture, preferring to outsource the physical work to offshore or lower quality white-label shops. We lean into the entire process, from inception to inspection, and pay fair wages with benefits to our expert craftspeople.
